Resort at Squaw Creek

November 14, 2007

Experience accommodations rivaling the magnificence of our alpine setting.

Resort at Squaw Creek offers luxurious accommodations with grand picture windows that reveal sweeping views of the Sierra Nevada range, ancient ponderosa forests and lush meadowlands.

With the recent $53 million renovation of our Lake Tahoe hotel, each of our 405 guest rooms, suites and penthouses has been remodeled to match our luxury resort’s new, more relaxed and residential feel. Muted tones and rich textures create an inviting ambiance that helps you feel at home – right here in the heart of the Sierra.

Ranging from deluxe rooms to fireside suites and bi-level penthouses, Resort at Squaw Creek can provide luxury lodging for parties from two to nine people. You’ll enjoy custom furnishings, slate entryways, ceramic-tiled bathrooms, granite vanities, and LCD flat-screen TVs. Our suites and penthouses also feature gas fireplaces and resort kitchens.

Chip Smith & Lisa Terry have generously donated a weekend stay at Resort at Squaw Creek in a fireside suite plus deluxe queen room (1 king, 2 queens, sofa bed, and small kitchen). ($1,000 value)

Have the fever? The “Strawberry Night Fever?”

November 8, 2007

The donations are coming in!! Would your child like to be principal for a day or have a play date with Bain and Cade? Would you like a romantic dinner and an overnight stay at a local hotel? What about seeing the Mountain Play “The Wizard of Oz” on the opening day! These are some of the items that have been donated for Auction Night 2008!

There are lots of ways to donate or solicit donations. Get creative, talk to your favorite merchants for gift certificates, get together with friends and host a party. We love Giants tickets and fun stuff for the kids. Golf outings, dining and wine are always huge hits as well.

Donation forms can be found in the main office and completed forms can also be dropped off there. We have a running list of merchants who have already been solicited and that can be found in the office as well or email Mary Waluk at with any questions.

Thanks to Katie for talking to Practical Martial Arts & Marin Karate Kids and bringing in a terrific donation.

Miss Abrams & The 4th Grade Class

November 3, 2007

In celebration of the 70’s we’re going to be looking back at some of the more notable events from that decade. Some of you may know of or have heard the Mill Valley song by Miss Abrams and the fourth grade class. In 1970, Rita Abrams, a kindergarten teacher at our very own Strawberry Point School, wrote a song for her students to sing with her. Through a series of events, the song, entitled “Mill Valley” and sung by Rita and the then-third grade class of Strawberry Point School, was recorded and became a nationwide hit. (When the album was released, the kids were in fourth grade and the title was changed.) It was a national phenomenon with Miss Abrams and the kids touring across the country and making appearances on television and radio. You can read about it at the Rita Abrams Page.
